It seems John McCain is taking a hit tonight. While he has won just about all of the states holding contests in New England (save Romney's own Massachusetts), he is having a hell of a time in the solid Republican South. With calls in West Virginia, Georgia, Arkansas, and Alabama, the war hero is having his hat handed to him by the baptist minister. And that "my friends" says all you need to know about the Republican Party of the 21st century. Abraham Lincoln is rolling over in his grave.
When the night is over, it is obvious that the Republican race isn't going to be as close to over as a lot of people thought. On MSNBC tonight, Tom Brokaw was talking about the state of the Republican Party in this election year...comparing it to the Democrats of 1968, when they fought all year amongst themselves, splintered, and handed that year's general election to the Republicans.
Looking at things tonight, I'd say that's pretty spot on.
