This primary election on Tuesday is a game changer. This is going to make a huge difference in what happens going forward. The entire country - probably even a lot of the world - is looking to see what North Carolina decides.-Sen. Hillary Clinton, this past Friday in Kinston, NC. (She will, of course, deny tomorrow that she said anything of the kind about North Carolina.)
Imagine the body blow she must have felt when all four networks called North Carolina for Barack Obama the second polls closed there tonight.
Former President Bill Clinton did NINE SPEECHES for his wife in the "tar-heel state" yesterday, yet the rejection of the former first lady seems (SEEMS) to be tremendously huge.
The raw numbers are still coming in, but NBC's Chuck Todd says to watch the popular vote percentages in NC. Should Obama get 55% of the vote there, he'll get very close to erasing Clinton's gains in Pennsylvania two weeks ago. Should he get 57% of the vote in NC, he'll have erased it and then some.
PS, Hillary: Take note...North Carolina is a "big state." And Barack Obama just won it handily.
