That's a nice shot, isn't it? President Obama arrived in the Oval Office just after 8:30am this morning and got right to work. After reading the letter left for him by former president Bush, Obama met with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel regarding the day's schedule, placed phone calls to leaders in the Middle East, and then drafted an executive order that will close the American military prison at Guantanamo Bay. Church services with Vice-President Biden, former president Bill Clinton, and Secretary of State-designate Hillary Rodham Clinton followed. Later this afternoon the President will officiate the swearing-in of his White House staff, followed by a meeting with his national security and economic teams.
As Paul Begala said on CNN last night, after eight years of frat-boy incompetence, our new government are going to "put on their big boy pants" and get right to work.
