President-elect Barack Obama has indicated that he will issue an executive order closing the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay. It is possible the the order will be signed shortly after taking office on January 20th.
While it will take some time (a few months, perhaps) to get all the logistics in place, just the signing of the order will be a HUGE first step in repairing America's standing around the globe, tattered and torn as never before under the Bush regime.
