Only one day after a state panel recommended impeachment, and after only two hours of debate this morning, the Illinois State House of Representatives impeached Gov. Rod Blagojevich by a vote of 114-1. The state senate will now conduct an impeachment trial. If the Governor is found guilty by 2/3 of that body, he will be removed from office, and Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn will become the state's chief executive.
Here's hoping.
Note: Today's impeachment came on what would have been the 95th birthday of former President Richard Nixon. Sweet!
