Dodd In Serious Trouble

Sen. Chris Dodd (Democrat-CT), hobbled by his own set of banking problems, would lose reelection in a landslide if his 2010 contest were held today:
Rob Simmons (R) 50%
Chris Dodd (D) 34%
The Republicans haven't voted on a nominee yet, but 34% against anybody is a pretty anemic showing for the Democratic incumbent.

I hate to say it (I really like Sen. Dodd), but it may be time for Senate leaders (and perhaps President Obama) to talk Dodd into retirement. Otherwise, the chances are pretty strong that what should be a safe Democratic seat will go Republican next year.
