From ABC News: Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was killed today in a gun and bomb attack after a rally in the city of Rawalpindi. Police said a suicide bomber shot Bhutto in the head before blowing himself up, killing 16 others in the blast.
A major international crisis such as this reinforces my belief, published on this blog last week, that America would do well to nominate and elect Joe Biden to the presidency. An elder-statesman with a steady hand such as his will be needed to cool these global fires in the post-Bush years.
