When all is said and done, the Bee Gees were brilliant songwriters and musicians. Some of the best pop music of the last five decades was written and/or performed by the Brothers Gibb. But when a group lasts as long as the Bee Gees did, they're bound to hit a few bumps in the road.
This single from 1981 is a freekin' pot hole. Following the over-saturated success the group enjoyed in the mid to late 70s, the Gibb brothers returned to the studio in 1981 to record an album low on the falsetto disco numbers and high on the schmalzy pop. The album was entitled "Living Eyes," and the first single was a big pile of steaming crap. It's an absolute mess.
Following six straight #1 singles, this thing barely made it to #30 in 1981.
