Saturday's horrendous murders in Oakland are the latest in a sudden increase in violence in a city that is already violent enough.
That the victims were cops this time just adds to the frustration and sense of helplessness.
I drive through Oakland everyday to get to work in Alameda, and believe me...drive through is exactly what I do. No stopping for anything for any reason. Oakland has become the South Central of the Bay Area. And if things don't change soon, if the mayor and the police don't figure a way out of the morass, then Alameda County and the state of California will have one hell of a problem on their hands.
