Powell Endorses Obama

In his endorsement of Barack Obama this morning on Meet the Press, Colin Powell seemed to vocalize what many Americans of the political center and, more importantly, what many of the old Republican Party of Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan have been thinking of the McCain/Palin campaign: That Obama clearly has the intelligence and steadiness to be president, that McCain essentially proved a severe lack of judgment when he put Sarah Palin on the ticket, and that the Republican Party of the 21st century needs some time in the political wilderness.

The Powell endorsement could very well move enough retired military voters over to Obama in key states like Florida and North Carolina.

And should Obama win the White House, Powell might just wind up as his Secretary of Education.
